Fmr NPA MD, Others To Establish Port Notel Terminal

Former Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Omar Suleiman has joined the management of Port Notel Limited(PNL), the promoters of Nigeria’s first ever ocean terminal.

Suleiman whose tenure in the NPA was marked with significant strides is bringing his wealth of experience to bear on the Greenfield project.

The former NPA boss who is presently the Chairman and Chief Executive (CE) of Noblegate Projects Limited is saddled with specific roles and responsibilities in Port Notel Ocean Terminal project in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He is joining the management/technical team of the firm as its Port Infrastructure Development Consultant. He is expected to provide guidance for the speedy realization of Nigeria’s first off-shore Greenfield deep sea port project.

Managing Director of PNL, Victor Akpanika who disclosed that Suleiman was position to bringing his professional expertise in ports administration and management, ports, maritime infrastructure concession and development, logistics supply, strategic planning and team building to the project.

Described as a strong advocate of private sector participation in green and brown field ports development in Nigeria, capacity building and professionalism for the maritime industry, Suleiman obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Building from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Master’s degree in Materials and Construction Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). 

Akpanika stated that the erstwhile NPA Managing Director would provide technical advice and guidance on port infrastructure development, concession agreements, regulatory permits and government relations.

Also joining the PNL is the Principal Consultant of Faith HRD Projects Limited, Mrs. Ekemini Ema Gbole-Wikina. She joined the management/technical team of PNL as the Human ResourceDevelopment Adviser and Consultant.

According to him,  Gbole-Wikina is aligning to the company’s vision to global best practices in employee development and workplace learning, organisational culture and performance.

Others are business process improvement and re-engineering, organizational communication, business ethics and etiquettes, conference and events co-ordination, personnel employability enhancement and employees’ career progression and development. Gbole-Wikina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, University of Port Harcourt and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development (HRD), University of Leicester,United Kingdom.

She worked as a professional banker with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for nearly two decades where she rose to the position of Senior Personnel/Administration Manager in 2008 before voluntarily retiring to establish Faith HRD Project.

“She would be providing guidance to PNL management and board on HRD for the actualization of the Port Notel Ocean Terminal project”, he added.
