The Managing Director, Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) Free Zone, Dr Amy Jadesimi has stressed the need for Nigerian indigenous investors in the nation’s oil and gas industry to focus on long term projects, saying this is the only way to achieve global standard.

Amy made the observation, on the sidelines of the visit of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu to Total’s Egina Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel in Lagos. The minister visited the 3.3 billion dollar FPSO at Samsung Heavy Industry-Mega Construction Industry (SHI-MCI) yard at LADOL’s Free Zone. The Executive Secretary of Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Mr Simbi Wabote was also present.

“I will also encourage collaboration. We have to work together, we have to make sure that we grow the size of the market by holding hands, demanding that more work be done here and doing that work according to global standards,’’ she said.

Jadesimi said that since inception from 2001, LADOL had continued to engage in one construction after the other till date.

She added that the company would continue to engage in more constructions to ensure more Nigerians were trained and perpetually employed through its up skilling academy.

“We are starting our up skilling academy later in the year.

“Through this academy, we want to make sure that workers who worked in the Egina FPSO are perpetually employed and we want to make sure that more workers are trained for future projects.’’

The LADOL boss commended Total, NCDMB, and the Minister for their relentless support to the company.

“As some of you know, such a feat will not be possible if NCDMB has not insisted on it being possible. If Total had not taken the huge risk at a time, nobody thought it was possible to support us to make it possible.

“We also want to thank NCDMB for providing us with financial support.

“So, today calls for more celebration, however, we know that work continues and we promise everyone that LADOL will continue to work hard to meet our mile stones and make sure that the 50,000 jobs directly and indirectly is achieved.

“We will continue to see more capacity development across the country with increased employment of Nigerians in all divisions of the company”, she said.
