MAN To Partnering CSN To ‘Explore New Areas Of Research’

Dr. Frank Jacobs Udemba, MAN President, at the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) on Friday in Lagos said this is a very important day as we finalise arrangements for the collaboration between the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) with the signing of this MoU.

Udemba pointed out that the objective of this collaboration is to commercialise research findings  which have industrial applications but have been shelved off in the past, to explore new areas of research that may be relevant to both organisations, especially to MAN as well as add value to the practical academic experience of students.

 

 

He noted that it is our hope that this collaboration would bridge the gap between the researchers and the manufacturing industry.

 

 

“Our desire is to sign an MoU that would add value to MAN member businesses. To this end, an Implementation Committee made up of members from both organisations would be set up to ensure effective implementation of the objectives of the MoU.”

 

 

In response the Professor Gloria, Ukalina, Obuzor, CSNPresident said the National council and the entire members of the CSN have welcome you to this auspicious event of signing the articles of the memorandum of understanding between the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN)

 

 

Prof Obuzor made it cleared says this event has a significant potential to define the seriousness of CSN in its avowed role to contribute positively to the stimulation of the advancement and application of chemistry in promoting the professional integrity, status, efficiency, and public usefulness of Chemists. CSN Boss disclosed that this event which also seeks to partner with MAN is desirous in popularizing the chemistry profession amongst its members and the general public in Nigeria.

 

He listed out the objective of this partnership is to be as follows:

  1. Create accessibility of researched and developed raw materials for the industrial sector;
  2. Translate research findings into acceptable and usable products;
  3. To commercialize products arising from local research for the purpose of ensuring economic sustainability of the nation;
  4. To encourage the use of local raw materials by improving the local content requirements of the locally manufactured products;
  5. To facilitate the development of human capital resources for the growth of chemical-based industries in Nigeria; and
  6. To prove that researches are to increase knowledge and to provide solutions to needs arising from society.

 

Prof therefore expresses sincere appreciation of our host, the DG and President of MAN, DR. FRANK S. UDEMBA JACOBS and applauds him for rapid infrastructural development that has taken place in MAN since your assumption of office.

 

CSN Boss reiterated the benefits of this collaboration; which include but not limited to; Increased CSN members’ interest in the activities of the society through exposure and commercialization of research findings; focused research tailored towards industry-specific needs that would attract research grants, Increased local content of raw material utilization by members, Creation of alternative chemical resources for manufacturers; and provision of link between the manufacturing industry and research outfits.
