Inspite of the evident limitations of the business environment and the state of infrastructures and facilities at this venue, we have been able to hold a fair which can be adjudged best ever and successful, taking into account the numerous constraints.

Remi Bello, the president, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, has said it is heart-warning to note that participants had rewarding business interactions during the fair. Also delighted to observed that the like Nigerian business community and foreign investors alike have again demonstrated their confidence in the Nigerian economy and their determination to succeed in spite of the challenges in the investment environment.

Bello stated this while addressing the stakeholders at closing ceremony of the 2014 Lagos International Trade Fair on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos

 The LCCI president pointed out that it is our hope that the governments at all levels would address the numerous impediments to private sector development in the country, especially as regards infrastructures, security, quality of institutions and funding. We need to do this in order to harness the bountiful enterprising resource of Nigerian and foreign entrepreneurs for the transformation of our economy and the welfare of our people.

In his words: “we acknowledge and commend the consistent support of the Lagos State Government for the annual Lagos International Trade Fair. We recognize the state government’s commitment to the creation of an enabling environment for the private sector in the Lagos State through the enormous investments in infrastructures, security and human capital development. The state government is a worthy partner in progress and I am confident that this will continue to be so.”

He noted that “with great satisfaction that this year’s fair witnessed a good measure of demotic and foreign participation. we note however, that the number of foreign participants would have been much more but for the Ebola incident in July this year as some of the prospective foreign participants cancelled their booking on account of this unfortunate incident.

The president revealed that the participation of many large corporation bodies, small and medium enterprises in the country, from practically all sectors of the Nigerian economy. While disclosed the a total number of 1600 exhibitors taking a total space of 30,000 metre square as against the previous year, 2013’s performance of 1300 exhibitors and 23,00 metre square of space utilized, representing 1000 exhibitors and 7000 metre square respectively.

In the same vein; the Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, LCCI, Dr Micheal Olawale-Cole said we have done our best within the limits of prevailing circumstances to ensure a hitch-free fair. I am confident that our valued exhibitors got value for their participation at this fair.

However, Olawale-Cole assured the stakeholders and the LCCI’s teeming customers that we would continue to ensure improvement in subsequent fairs.
