The Prudential Plc is keen and eager to enter the Nigerian market for big ticket businesses
In other to invest in the Nigerian insurance industry, the Deputy British High Commissioner, Peter Carter led a team from Prudential PLC, a life insurance company in the United Kingdom on a courtesy visit to the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Carter said they were in the Commission to briefing the Commissioner of the investment intention of Prudential Plc to invest in the Nigerian insurance market and to inquire about the modalities for entry.
In the same vein, Matt Lilley, the Director of Strategy & Corporate Development at Prudential Plc informed the CFI that his company is a purely Life insurance entity and have been in operation for 165 years. The company has its major investments in Asia at the moment and has recently injected $5million into a small insurance business in Ghana.
According to press statement signed and released on the commission site by mr Salami Rasaaq, Assistant Director, Corporate Affairs of the commission said that Lilley further disclosed that management of the Prudential Plc is keen and eager to enter the Nigerian market for big ticket businesses.
Fola Daniel, Commissioner for Insurance expressed his delight at the visit and the desires of Prudential Plc to invest in the Nigerian insurance industry.
Daniel promised the support and cooperation of the Commission towards the successful entrance of the company into the Nigerian market.

Miss Sefiya Sadik’s reign as Miss Insurance ends in March, 2014
As part of her sensitization exercise and awareness creation for her activities, incumbent Miss Insurance 2013, Sefiya Sadik paid a courtesy visit to the management of National Insurance Commission on Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at the Commission’ Headquarters in Abuja.
Sadik was received by the Commissioner for Insurance, Fola Daniel and some members of his management team.
In her address, Miss Insurance said she was in the Commission to briefing management of her activities so far and to seek the support of NAICOM for her pet-project “Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS”. She noted that the project is targeted at Secondary School students and the slogan for the Pet-Project is subtitled “SAY YES TO LIFE AND EDUCATION, AND SAY NO TO HIV/AIDS”.
In response, Commissioner for Insurance and CEO NAICOM, Fola Daniel thanked the insurance queen for her visit, while commended her initiative and contributions towards creating awareness on the dangers of HIV/AIDS to the society.
Mr. Daniel pledged the continuing support of the Commission towards the success of her pet-project and urged her to remain steadfast in her campaign towards the eradication of HIV/AIDS from the society.
