Lagos CIBN gets new executives

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Lagos State Branch has elected new executive members who will run the affairs of the flagship branch for next two years.

In a statement on Monday, during the branch’s 2018 annual general meeting/election of new executive members in Lagos, the Group Chief Executive Officer, United Capital Plc, Peter Ashade emerged as the chairman, CIBN Lagos state branch.

Other executive committee members include the first vice -chairman, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chen & Eleos Capital, Adeyemo Adeoye; Second Vice- Chairman, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NPF Microfinance Bank, Akinwunmi Lawal; Publicity Secretary, Lawrence Jompe among others.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman said, “We plan to hit the ground running and aggressively drive the following key strategies from day one of our administration: adoption of high-level technology to drive the branch operations and programmes, alliances and partnerships with selected partners to improve our revenue drive.”

He promised to build on the legacy of his predecessor, and pegged his administration’s focus on five programmes.

Ashade also added that there would be “strong collaboration with the national secretariat, membership growth through strategic engagements and construction of the permanent secretariat before the end of the administration.

He said the administration would leverage on technology to develop a training model that would be digital-driven and user friendly thereby reducing the number of physical lecturer/student interface at a location.

According to him, the institute would key into the new trend of technology to ensure it stayed competitive both locally and internationally.

He said, “Our use of technology will be two-pronged. One, to drive learning and development programmes; and two, to drive awareness and involvement of members in the national and branch activities through efficient use of digital channels.”

During the meeting, the institute also presented the audited financial report of branch to members who were in attendance.
