Lilypond Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Isa Talatu, has assured that the command will meet its revenue target for this year.
Talatu, a newly promoted Customs Area Controller from the rank of a Deputy Comptroller to full Comptroller gave the assurance yesterday at a welcome reception hosted in her honour by officers of the command and Stakeholders present at the event, took turns to shower encomium on the CAC describing the promotion as a well deserved honour.
She pointed out that although the command is yet to received a new target for the year 2014, it had a monthly target of N1.5 billion last year which it surpassed towards the end of the year.
“The year has just started and we are expecting any moment from now, we will get the target. Last year’s target was N1.5 billion per month, so this year we are expecting something higher than that. Towards the end of the year we met our target, we made N1.6 billion and with the look of event and the way things are going this year, we will definitely do better that we did last year,” compt said.
The visibly elated controller, who expressed appreciation to God, said her new promotion will spur her to work harder to generate more revenue for the government.
The Chairman, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, Rev. Emmanuel Agubanze, Lilypond Chapter said since she took over as controller, the once inactive command has come to life as shipping companies now prefer Lilypond as their destination of choice.
Agubanze further noted that she came here as a Deputy Comptroller for you to understand the kind of quality she has and the kind of woman she is. Since then, things have changed for the better now because she never tolerates indolence and highhandedness of officers against the agents and we are happy because she merited it and it is just like putting a round peg in a round hole.
