MAN says impact of Implementation of Executive Order 003 on Buy-Made-In-Nigeria is weak.

….. Need to step up the campaign on Buy-Made-In-Nigeria

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN’s Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) member-companies across the six geo-political zones of the country and the ten Sectoral Groups of the Association member-companies’ CEOs in responses to interviewed of patronage of Nigerian manufactured products inline with the EO003 to ascertain the degree of compliance of MDAs and establish support-structures that would ensure that Government patronage of goods manufactured in Nigeria, 45 percent of them disagree of improved as expected. This indicating call for a need to urgently step up the campaign on Buy-Made-In-Nigeria, interrogate the implementation of the order.

“The EO003 mandated all Government establishments to make Nigerian manufactured goods first choice in public procurement processes.”

 

 

“While only 21 percent agreed that patronage of Nigerian manufactured products has improved as a result of the implementation of Executive Order 003 leaving 34 percent of them were not sure indicating the need to urgently step up the campaign on Buy-Made-In-Nigeria, interrogate the implementation of the EO003 to ascertain the degree of compliance of MDAs and establish support-structures that would ensure that Government patronage of goods manufactured in Nigeria improved as expected.

 

“The MAN’s second quarter of 2019 MCCI with a composite index of 50.9 points is a sign of a weaker manufacturers’ confidence on the economy when compared with the first quarter performance of 51.3 points; thus, indicating a shrinking manufacturing activity.

 

“The current MCCI revealed that more sub-sectors and industrial zones performed below the 50-point threshold as against what obtained in the first quarter. This therefore demands that Government should, as a matter of urgency, address the challenges responsible for the observed downward trend.

“Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of MAN member-companies across the six geo-political zones of the country and the ten Sectoral Groups of the Association responded to special purpose questionnaires designed for data gathering.  The information provided by these respondents was utilized without making any reference to specific companies and the result thereof is expected to strengthen the advocacy positions of the Association.
