Naira Abuse: CBN plans to Re-Launch Fresh Campaign

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed that it will soon start an aggressive campaign against the abuse of the Naira.
Dropping this news was Director, Corporate Communications of CBN, Mr Ugochukwu Okoroafor.
Okoroafor, however did not give a specific date when the campaign would be launch, but said the drive would help preserve the quality of the local currency.
He further explained that “We believe if that is attained, then the high cost of printing currency and briquetting (destruction of unfit banknotes) will be reduced. The whole idea is to drive down the cost of printing the Naira Notes and we believe that a higher denomination of banknote will further reduce cost of printing the Naira”.
