The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Adefuye Teslim, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at the Parapete area of Ago Iwoye on Sunday, April, 22, 2018.
The suspect, our correspondent gathered, was arrested following a complaint to the police from the mother of the victim, Mariam Kareem, that her teenage daughter was lured into an apartment by the suspect where he violated her.
She added that the suspect warned her daughter not to reveal the act to anyone.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, however, said the victim, who was feeling pain in her private parts, later informed her mother, who then reported the case to the police at the Ago-Iwoye division.
He said based on the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer, Ade Adedoyin, led detectives to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Oyeyemi said the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Ago Iwoye, for medical examination and the result confirmed that she had been sexually abused.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
It will be recalled that another 29-year-old man, Soji Ogunrinola, popularly known as Bulldozer, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly defiling another 13- year-old girl.
That incident occurred at Ogiri Ojule village, in the Odeda Local Government Area of the state.
