Nigeria Customs Service, Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command has recorded its highest monthly revenue of N14,850,154,616.00 collected for the month of January 2019 since its creation in 13 years ago that is 2006.
This was achieved by sustained interactions with stakeholders to ensure improved compliance being carried out by Comptroller Florence Dixon, Customs Area Controller of the Command.
In a statement by Mohammed Yakubu, Customs Public Relations Officer said, Comptr Dixon oversees optimum trade facilitation by ensuring that compliant vehicles are cleared from customs control within six hours in the command.
In the analysis showed the command collected N10,024,673,259 for the Federation Account which is higher by N2,757,367,053 to figures of N7,267,306,206 collected in January 2018.
The figure is 49 percent higher than N9,967,751,491 collected in January 2018
It was revealed that in 2018, the command made over N120b annual revenue collection which was about N21.5b above N98,835,815,515 collected in 2017.
The Comptr Dixon disclosed during a recent interview that the command has achieved about 75 percent stakeholders’ compliance.
She expressed optimism that the revenue will go higher depending on volume of trade. That no aspect of customs function will be left unattended to in ensuring trade facilitation and revenue collection without compromising national interest and security, added she.
