South African Statistics agency says gold production declined the most in almost four years in September 2018.
The Pretoria-based Statistics said in a statement on Thursday that output retreated 19 percent from a year earlier
It added that overall mining output fell 1.8 percent, while production of platinum-group metals increased 7.2 percent.
It would be recalled that the continent’s most-industrialized economy fell into its first recession in almost a decade in the second quarter of 2018.
