The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, received a rousing reception on Thursday as jubilant staff gathered at the agency’s headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, to express their gratitude for his transformative welfare initiatives.
The celebration began as early as 8 a.m., with staff members holding placards bearing messages of appreciation such as “We love you Zacch,” “You’re a man of the people,” and “We support you 100%.” The workers sang, danced, and cheered in high spirits as they awaited Adedeji’s arrival.
When the Chairman arrived, the excitement peaked as staff members escorted him to his office, demonstrating their admiration and support.
A statement from Sikiru Akinola, Technical Assistant (Print Media) to the Executive Chairman, highlighted the workers’ appreciation for Adedeji’s leadership, especially his commitment to staff welfare and salary increments.
One staff member described Adedeji as “deliberate and intentional,” adding, “He is always concerned about those around him. He is not just our boss but also our friend. Since he assumed office, our welfare has been a priority. When news of the salary increment broke, it was met with widespread excitement. For the first time, our staff union leaders have openly acknowledged that they have no issues with the management, which is unprecedented.”
Another staff member emphasized Adedeji’s commitment to motivating his team: “Without much fanfare, he increased our salaries and introduced several welfare initiatives. His belief is that those working towards achieving the ambitious revenue target of N19.4 trillion for 2024 should feel valued. This leadership style has truly inspired us.”
During the gathering, many staff members agreed that no previous Executive Chairman had achieved such widespread admiration within just a year and four months of leadership.
Adedeji acknowledged the heartfelt celebration by waving and saluting the enthusiastic crowd, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support.
The celebration stands as a testament to Adedeji’s impactful leadership and dedication to fostering a motivated and well-supported workforce.
