National Wire Unveils Panel of Judges for Inaugural Campus Business Journalism Awards

National Wire has revealed the esteemed panel of judges for the first-ever Campus Business Journalism Awards, set to celebrate outstanding business reporting by student journalists across various Nigerian universities.

Dayo Emmanuel, Chairman of the awards and News Editor at National Wire, disclosed the panel members during a media briefing in Lagos. He emphasized the significance of selecting judges with deep expertise in financial journalism to ensure the awards’ credibility and rigor.

“National Wire is led daily by three journalists who have undergone the Bloomberg Media Initiative for Africa (BMIA), a prestigious financial journalism training. We decided to leverage the BMIA network to ensure a thorough and credible selection process,” Emmanuel shared.

The four distinguished judges, all trained by Bloomberg, bring a wealth of experience in the industry, ensuring the awards’ credibility.

The panel includes:

Ishaya Ibrahim, Editor at The Niche

Kirk Leigh, Editor at Abuja Politico

Segun Elijah, Lagos-based Journalist

Joe Agbro Jr., Editor at Daily Shot

With awards across three categories, the competition is expected to be highly competitive, with submissions from campus journalists eager to showcase their talent in business reporting.

Emmanuel expressed confidence that the judges would ensure fairness and a comprehensive evaluation of all entries, marking a significant milestone in recognizing and nurturing the future leaders of financial journalism in Nigeria.
