The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has proudly announced that its Executive Chairman, Mr. Ayodele Subair, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration (honoris causa) by Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
The award was presented during the institution’s 13th convocation ceremony and its 25th-anniversary celebration on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The Vice Chancellor of AAUA, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, highlighted that the honour was in recognition of Mr. Subair’s exceptional contributions to taxation development in Nigeria and his remarkable leadership, which has led to groundbreaking achievements at LIRS.
Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Subair, LIRS has witnessed a remarkable 310% increase in revenue generation. His strategic approach, innovative mindset, and commitment to operational excellence have positioned LIRS as a leader in effective tax administration nationwide.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Subair expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and underscored the importance of education as a transformative force in society. Addressing the graduands, he encouraged them to embrace lifelong learning and commit to becoming agents of positive change.
“Education has the power to transform lives and societies. I urge you to contribute meaningfully to your communities and champion the cause of education in everything you do,” Dr. Subair said.
He emphasized the role of the youth as future leaders and innovators, whose actions would play a critical role in shaping the nation’s progress.
Speaking on behalf of LIRS, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Deputy Director of Corporate Communications, praised Dr. Subair’s achievements and leadership. “We are immensely proud of Dr. Subair’s recognition. It reflects not only his personal accomplishments but also the core values of excellence and service upheld at LIRS. The convocation ceremony saw Dr. Subair surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues who celebrated this well-deserved honour.
