In a bid to sustain operational excellence and enhance human capital development, Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT), Apapa, has successfully trained 250 team members on the globally recognized Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt continuous improvement methodology.
Lean Six Sigma, a proven framework for process and quality improvement, is widely applied across industries to foster collaboration, eliminate process waste, and minimize variation. This certification aligns with TICT’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Tai Fadipe-Davids, Head of Process Excellence at TICT, described the training as a strategic milestone. “The maritime industry is becoming increasingly competitive with emerging players. To stay ahead, we must promote organizational efficiency, and this training is a critical step in that direction,” he stated.
Fadipe-Davids explained that the program covered core Lean Six Sigma principles, including concepts like Voice of the Customer, Next Operation as Customer, and Quality at the Source. “Our goal is to ensure every team member understands basic lean processes, laying the foundation for our Process Excellence journey,” he added.
