In a striking reflection on the importance of maintaining decorum at airports, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), the operators of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2), has issued a stern reminder to passengers about expected standards of behavior within its facility. This follows recent reports of unruly and violent incidents by some passengers.

The management emphasized in a statement that such conduct is unacceptable and undermines the safe and secure environment the terminal strives to maintain. “While we understand the frustration that may arise from flight cancellations or delays, we urge passengers to address their concerns through the appropriate channels, as outlined in Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs),” the statement read.

The regulations, according to BASL, clearly define the rights and responsibilities of all parties within the aviation ecosystem, including passengers, airlines, travel agents, and tour operators.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards violent behavior, BASL warned that any such actions would result in swift legal action, prosecution, and potential placement on no-fly lists. “Our primary commitment remains the safety, security, and well-being of all passengers, staff, and stakeholders,” the statement continued.

With the festive season in full swing, the management appealed to passengers to cooperate with airport personnel and exercise patience. “Reports of inappropriate behavior should be directed to our security personnel for prompt action. Together, we can maintain a respectful and peaceful environment for everyone,” it added.

BASL’s statement serves as a timely reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold civility within the aviation sector, ensuring travel experiences remain pleasant for all.
