Global shipping leader Maersk has announced the relocation of its Lagos office from Apapa to Victoria Island as part of a strategic effort to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. The new office, located at Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, will officially open on January 2, 2025.

To ensure a smooth transition, Maersk will maintain in-person transaction services at its current counter within the APM Terminals at Apapa until December 30, 2024. The company assured customers that cargo clearance and other essential services will remain uninterrupted during the relocation period.

In an official statement, Maersk described the move as integral to its long-term plan to better support its growing client base. “This new location reflects our commitment to delivering top-tier service. We look forward to welcoming you to our new office,” the company stated in a communication seen by BusinessDay.

Maersk Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has been a pivotal force in Nigeria’s shipping industry since the 1950s. Operating across Lagos, Port Harcourt (Onne), and Kano, the company offers comprehensive logistics solutions for standard, refrigerated, and oversized cargo.

This development comes in the wake of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) relocating its office from Apapa, signaling a trend among industry leaders to move operations from the congested port area to more accessible locations.

Industry experts have commended Maersk’s decision, noting that such strategic relocations often aim to improve customer convenience while maintaining operational excellence.

Maersk remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s international trade and logistics needs. As it enters this new phase, the company’s relocation underscores its focus on meeting the dynamic demands of its clients and the evolving shipping industry.
