In a renewed drive to enhance border management and anti-smuggling operations, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Wale Bashir Adeniyi, has reassured the public and stakeholders that the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) is committed to balancing effective border security with trade facilitation.
Addressing concerns about recent adjustments to border enforcement measures, Adeniyi emphasized that these changes are designed to modernize customs operations, improve trade compliance, and bolster national security. “These measures will not compromise the safety of our borders or the efficiency of trade facilitation. Instead, they mark a significant step forward in aligning our operations with international best practices,” he stated.
The CGC also called for collaborative efforts in the fight against economic saboteurs, urging stakeholders to support the service’s initiatives. He reaffirmed his dedication, alongside his officers and men, to ensuring the nation’s borders remain secure, legitimate trade thrives, and the safety and well-being of Nigerians are safeguarded.
This progressive approach reflects the NCS’s evolving role in protecting national interests while fostering economic growth. Adeniyi’s leadership continues to inspire confidence in the ability of the service to adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities in global trade dynamics.
