The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has affirmed its dedication to enhancing the safety of Nigeria’s airspace, emphasizing its commitment to robust safety measures and continuous improvement. This message was delivered by the Acting Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, during the staff’s annual New Year prayers at the Authority’s corporate headquarters in Abuja. The occasion also marked the beginning of a series of events to celebrate NCAA’s 25th anniversary.

Capt. Najomo highlighted the importance of heightened safety measures in responding to existing challenges within the airspace, stating that the Authority remains steadfast in its mission to ensure safe air travel. He emphasized that the Renewed Hope agenda from the President and the Minister’s five key points agenda provide a platform for the Authority to perform better in service of the public.

Addressing the issue of compliance, Capt. Najomo assured the public that NCAA would continue to hold airlines accountable, mentioning recent sanctions imposed on five airlines for failing to issue timely ticket refunds. He expressed optimism for continued improvements in 2025, with the Authority prioritizing the safety of air travelers.

Despite external challenges, including fabricated attacks, Capt. Najomo reaffirmed his focus on delivering results and strengthening the NCAA’s commitment to its mission. “The attacks do not deter my resolve; we remain steadfast in our goals, and when necessary, the President will take appropriate actions,” he stated.

In a bid to enhance operational efficiency, Capt. Najomo also shared updates on the NCAA’s efforts to digitalize its processes, including initiatives such as the flight data center, CPD portal, and DATR portal, which aim to streamline the Authority’s functions.

The event concluded with the hoisting of the NCAA @25 flag and the unveiling of an anniversary monument, symbolizing the organization’s progress and its dedication to securing a safer and brighter future for Nigerian aviation.
