Fidelity Bank Plc, a leading financial institution committed to community development, has once again demonstrated its dedication to improving lives through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The bank recently donated maternity kits to 30 pregnant women at the Mushin Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Lagos, as part of its Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP).
This initiative, executed by the Great Minds Inductees Class, exemplifies the bank’s approach to fostering staff-driven community projects. Under the FHHP, employees identify community needs, pool resources, and implement impactful solutions. Fidelity Bank’s management matches these contributions, amplifying their impact on the target community.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, underscored the significance of the project. “Maternal mortality is a critical public health issue in Nigeria, accounting for 28.5% of global maternal deaths, according to a 2023 United Nations report. As a socially responsible organization, Fidelity Bank is committed to supporting initiatives that address this alarming statistic. This donation aims to ensure safer deliveries and improve healthcare outcomes for women in the Mushin community,” Nwagboh said.
Dr. Kayode Odufuwa, Medical and Health Officer for Mushin Local Government Area, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community. “This intervention by Fidelity Bank will undoubtedly reduce maternal mortality rates and encourage more expectant mothers from underprivileged backgrounds to access antenatal care. We hope for a sustained partnership with Fidelity Bank to further enhance healthcare services in Mushin,” he noted.
Similarly, Mrs. Bolanle Odunlami, Apex Nurse and Deputy Director of Nursing Services in Mushin LGA, praised the bank’s generosity. “Many of our patients cannot afford essential delivery kits. This donation is a blessing, and Fidelity Bank has shown true compassion. We are deeply grateful for their support,” she said.
The beneficiaries were equally moved by the bank’s kindness. Mrs. Mary Olusanya, one of the recipients, expressed her joy, saying, “Fidelity Bank has come to our rescue. These kits mean safer deliveries and improved healthcare for women like me who might otherwise struggle to afford them. Thank you, Fidelity Bank!”
Fidelity Bank’s impact extends beyond healthcare. Recognized as one of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, the bank serves over 8.3 million customers through its 251 business offices in Nigeria, the UK, and digital channels. Its commitment to excellence has earned numerous awards, including the Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria and Export Finance Bank of the Year at the BusinessDay BAFI Awards.
With initiatives like this, Fidelity Bank continues to set the standard for corporate citizenship, showcasing the profound impact that businesses can have on their communities.
