The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set an ambitious goal of reducing its cargo clearance time to just one hour, aiming to surpass its current two-hour record. This bold target was announced by Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniya Mnia during the celebration of International Customs Day in Lagos.

Comptroller Daniya emphasized that achieving this goal hinges on the cooperation of importers and their agents. He explained that if importers adhere to proper compliance measures, such as accurate declarations, timely duty payments, and readiness for prompt exit, the command is fully capable of clearing Roll on Roll off (RoRo) cargoes within one hour.

In a significant development, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has granted approval for PTML Terminal to handle pharmaceutical imports. Comptroller Daniya credited the command’s transparent operations and robust security measures for this approval, further reinforcing the terminal’s reputation for safety and efficiency.

Highlighting PTML’s role in improving trade facilitation, the Comptroller commended Grimaldi’s management for launching a new shipping service between Lagos and Shanghai, China. He expressed hope that this initiative would continue to thrive, contributing to increased legitimate trade and port activities.

Reflecting on the theme of this year’s International Customs Day, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity”, Comptroller Daniya reiterated the importance of this message for the Nigeria Customs Service, particularly for the PTML Command. He assured stakeholders that 2025 would bring even greater advancements in efficiency, security, and modernization, building on the success of the ongoing Customs modernization project.

Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar, the PTML Command’s Public Relations Officer, also highlighted the efforts of the NCS under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. He expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their unwavering support and commitment to Nigeria’s growth.

Looking ahead, Comptroller Daniya reaffirmed his dedication to improving the customs experience for port users, emphasizing his open-door policy and commitment to addressing challenges swiftly. He urged all stakeholders to continue supporting the modernization efforts and the B’Odogwu program, which is being piloted at PTML, ensuring its successful implementation in the years to come.
