SIFAX Group Earns Global Recognition as World Customs Organisation Honours Its Excellence in Trade Facilitation

The World Customs Organisation (WCO) has honoured SIFAX Group, recognizing its strategic importance and outstanding service delivery in international trade and logistics. This recognition was formally presented during the International Customs Day celebration in Abuja, Nigeria, themed:

“Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity.”

The WCO, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, is the foremost global body overseeing customs regulations, trade facilitation, supply chain security, and revenue collection. Each year, it honours individuals and organizations that demonstrate excellence in enhancing global trade efficiency.

Among the few Nigerian companies recognized, SIFAX Group stood out for its over three decades of dedication to facilitating trade across borders. The Certificate of Merit was presented by General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, on behalf of the WCO.

Speaking on the honour, Ian Saunders, WCO Secretary General, commended SIFAX Group for its exceptional contribution to the international customs community, highlighting the company’s unwavering commitment to service excellence and trade facilitation.

Reacting to the recognition, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman, SIFAX Group, expressed profound gratitude to both WCO and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for acknowledging the company’s pivotal role in global trade.

“Over the years, SIFAX Group has been privileged to receive numerous awards from industry stakeholders and governments worldwide. However, this WCO recognition is particularly special because of its critical role in shaping global customs operations. We remain committed to driving trade efficiency through innovation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable business practices,” Afolabi stated.

He further emphasized SIFAX Group’s dedication to quality service delivery, stakeholder management, and corporate social responsibility, ensuring positive economic and community impact beyond Nigeria.

Afolabi also commended Mr. Wale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, for his progressive leadership, which has significantly enhanced Nigeria’s customs operations and trade policies.
