The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Customs Area Command (KLTC) has recorded an unprecedented 101% surge in revenue for 2024, reflecting the Command’s commitment to efficiency, compliance, and strategic enforcement. Comptroller Joy Edeldouk, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), announced the remarkable figures during a decorative ceremony honoring 37 newly promoted officers. The Command generated an impressive ₦107,182,674,904 in 2024, a significant increase from the ₦53,429,613,592 revenue collected in 2023.
Strategic Reforms Drive Record-Breaking Performance
Comptroller Edeldouk attributed this exceptional growth to KLTC’s structured approach to revenue collection, improved compliance measures, and enhanced operational efficiency. She emphasized that the Command’s success was built on:
✔ Strategic Initiatives – The adoption of streamlined processes, leveraging technology, and fostering stakeholder engagement to facilitate legitimate trade.
✔ Intelligence-Driven Enforcement – The use of data analytics and intelligence gathering to identify and eliminate smuggling, fraud, and other customs violations.
✔ Capacity Building – Continuous training and development programs for officers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
✔ Stakeholder Collaboration – Strengthening partnerships with importers, sister agencies, and key stakeholders to promote compliance and ensure a seamless trade environment.
Looking ahead to 2025, the CAC outlined plans to deploy advanced risk management systems and data analytics to further optimize revenue collection and improve operational effectiveness.

In addition to announcing the impressive revenue figures, Comptroller Edeldouk proudly decorated 37 newly promoted officers, acknowledging their dedication and service to the Nigeria Customs Service. The promotions included:
- 4 Comptrollers
- 3 Deputy Comptrollers
- 5 Assistant Comptrollers
- 7 Chief Superintendents of Customs
- Other officers across various ranks
