In a decisive move to dismantle an international drug syndicate, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared four key associates of Lagos drug kingpin, Alhaji Suleiman Aremu Ganiu, popularly known as ‘Barryshine’ or ‘Ejeoto,’ wanted. These individuals—Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulai (a.k.a Alhaji Loyingbo), Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye (a.k.a Igbono, Baba Eje, Ade Iwaya, Femi Iwaya), Olumuyiwa Olufemi Ilori (a.k.a Murphy), and Alate Kafy Bakare Bukki of Kaffy Travels—were implicated in a sophisticated drug trafficking network responsible for multiple cocaine smuggling attempts to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other destinations.

The Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Honourable Justice Akintayo Aluko, issued an order on January 28, 2025, granting NDLEA the authority to publicly declare the suspects wanted. Their photographs will be conspicuously displayed to aid their apprehension.

The Barryshine Saga: A Flashback

The crackdown on ‘Barryshine’ and his cartel marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s war against drug trafficking. For years, Suleiman Aremu Ganiu operated under the radar, evading authorities while orchestrating multiple high-stakes cocaine export attempts through Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. Between 2022 and 2024, NDLEA foiled at least four such operations linked to his network, leading to the arrests, prosecutions, and convictions of several of his drug mules.

After a two-year pursuit, NDLEA agents finally captured ‘Barryshine’ on August 26, 2024, dealing a major blow to his operations. As the Managing Director/CEO of Barryshine Suleiman Nigeria Ltd, his legitimate business front concealed his deeper involvement in illicit drug trade. Now facing multiple criminal charges at a Federal High Court in Lagos, his arrest has unraveled deeper layers of the cartel, necessitating further action against his accomplices.

Public Call for Action

As the manhunt intensifies, NDLEA is urging the public to provide any credible information on the whereabouts of the four fugitives. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the nearest NDLEA Command, call the agency’s toll-free helpline (080010203040), or send direct messages to NDLEA’s social media platforms: @ndlea_nigeria (Instagram, X, TikTok), @ndlea01 (Facebook), and @ndleatv (YouTube).

This latest development underscores NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and dismantling organized crime networks threatening Nigeria’s security and international reputation.
