In a significant move to enhance maritime security and operational efficiency, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to inter-agency collaboration. Executive Secretary/CEO Barr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah made this known during a strategic meeting with a delegation from the Lagos Seaports/Marine Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), led by Command Comptroller Clementina Ogbudu.
The meeting, held at the NSC headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, underscored the importance of synergy between agencies to tackle challenges in Nigeria’s maritime trade. Barr. Akutah emphasized that a seamless and secure port environment is essential for boosting trade efficiency, noting that collaboration with NIS is pivotal in achieving this goal.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service plays a crucial role in regulating immigration at our seaports, and this partnership strengthens our collective efforts to ensure smooth port operations,” Akutah stated.
Reflecting on the significance of such engagements, Comptroller Ogbudu highlighted the need for sustained cooperation between both institutions. She commended the NSC’s leadership for its commitment to improving trade facilitation and pledged NIS’s full support in achieving shared objectives.
The visit not only reinforced the importance of multi-agency collaboration but also set the tone for future partnerships aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s maritime trade landscape. As both agencies move forward, stakeholders anticipate improved efficiency, security, and seamless operations within the nation’s seaports.
