5th National Spokespersons Awards: NIPR Opens Nominations to Recognize Excellence in Strategic Communication

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), has officially opened nominations for the 5th National Spokespersons Awards (NSA), recognizing outstanding spokespersons across various sectors.

This prestigious annual event honors professionals who have demonstrated excellence, transparency, and impact in shaping public narratives, reputation management, and crisis communication.

Committees Driving the Awards

To ensure the credibility and success of the awards, NIPR has established two key committees:

  • Award Planning Coordinating Committee: Led by Segun McMedal (former Chairman, Lagos NIPR) as Chairman, with Comptroller Joseph Attah (Ret.) as Vice Chairman. Other members include Mohammed Dahiru Lawal, Saad Shuaib, Ikalone Udo, and Stanley Ogadigo (Secretary).
  • Adjudication Committee: Headed by Dr. Shuaibu Husseini (Executive Director/CEO, National Film and Video Censors Board), with Prof. Anthony Igyuve as Vice Chairman. Members include Prof. Saudat Abdulbaqi, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Kabir Abdulsalam, Ishola Ayodele, and Abdulrahman Abdulraheem (Member/Secretary).

A Highly Competitive Edition

With 22 award categories, this year’s NSA is expected to be the most competitive yet. Categories include:

  • Outstanding Spokesperson of the Year
  • Outstanding Government Spokesperson (Federal and State levels)
  • Outstanding Corporate Spokesperson
  • Distinguished Crisis Management Spokesperson (Public and Private Sectors)
  • Most Influential Corporate Voice
  • Best Corporate Share of Voice (Social Media)
  • Most Supportive CEO to Spokespersons (Public and Private Sectors)

Sector-specific awards will also be given in Security, Banking, Insurance, Health, Education, Digital Economy, Marine & Blue Economy, Power, Oil & Gas, and Hospitality.

According to Segun McMedal, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, “We are committed to recognizing the finest communicators who have fostered public trust and shaped perception through strategic communication.”
