The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially announced the cancellation of all import declarations made during the now-suspended 4% Free-on-Board (FOB) charge implementation period. In a directive issued by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, through the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, affected importers and clearing agents are required to recapture their entries to facilitate the clearance of their consignments.

This decision follows an earlier press release suspending the 4% FOB charge on imports. According to the NCS, the cancellation of prior declarations is aimed at maintaining operational clarity, ensuring consistency in customs procedures, and preventing disruptions in clearance processes.

To support stakeholders during this transition, the NCS has instructed all Customs Commands to provide necessary guidance and assistance. The Service assures affected importers and customs agents that measures have been put in place to make the recapturing process seamless.

The Nigeria Customs Service reiterated its commitment to upholding government fiscal policies in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. By engaging stakeholders through consultations and dialogue, the Service seeks to enhance efficiency and transparency in trade facilitation.

Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the NCS continues to adopt a public-centric approach to service delivery. Importers and traders are encouraged to comply promptly with the new directive to avoid further delays in the clearance of their goods.

For further inquiries and assistance, stakeholders are advised to reach out to their respective Customs Commands.
