Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once again demonstrated its commitment to easing the financial burden on Nigerians by announcing a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by ₦65. Effective from February 27, 2025, the price will drop from ₦890 to ₦825 per litre.
This latest price adjustment aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery strategy, aimed at reducing the cost of living for Nigerians. The move is particularly timely as it offers relief ahead of the Ramadan season, a period traditionally marked by increased household expenditures.
This is not the first time Dangote Refinery has stepped in to provide economic relief through price reductions. Earlier in February 2025, the refinery lowered PMS prices by ₦60. A few months prior, during the December 2024 yuletide season, Dangote Refinery slashed petrol prices by ₦70.50 per litre—from ₦970 to ₦899.50—ensuring that Nigerians did not experience the usual fuel scarcity and price hikes that characterize the festive period. These consecutive reductions highlight Dangote Refinery’s proactive role in stabilizing Nigeria’s petroleum market.
With the new price adjustment, Nigerians can now purchase Dangote’s high-quality petrol at different rates depending on their region and retail outlet. At MRS Holdings stations, the fuel will sell for ₦860 per litre in Lagos, ₦870 in the South-West, ₦880 in the North, and ₦890 in the South-South and South-East. Similarly, at AP (Ardova Petroleum) and Heyden stations, prices will be ₦865 in Lagos, ₦875 in the South-West, ₦885 in the North, and ₦895 in the South-South and South-East.
Beyond domestic supply, Dangote Petroleum Refinery reassures Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring fuel availability and even exporting surplus refined products to boost Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings. The refinery has called on marketers to support this initiative, ensuring that the benefits reach end-users without exploitation.
As President Tinubu continues to push for Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products, Dangote Refinery’s consistent price reductions signal a positive shift toward making the country a major hub for oil exports while alleviating financial strain on the masses.
