In a historic move to amplify gender equality in Nigeria’s corporate landscape, the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) are set to host the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration on Friday, 7 March 2025, at NGX Group House, Lagos. Under the global theme “Accelerate Action for All Women: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” this year’s event reaffirms NGX Group’s dedication to advancing gender inclusion within Nigeria’s financial and business sectors.

The initiative aligns with the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality campaign, a collaborative effort with UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (SSEI), UN Women, UN Global Compact, World Federation of Exchanges, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). By driving systemic change, NGX Group continues its advocacy for gender parity through key partnerships, including the Nigeria2Equal Project with IFC, which aims to close gender gaps in leadership, employment, and entrepreneurship.

A distinguished lineup of women leaders will spearhead discussions at the event, including Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, who will serve as Special Guest. Joining her are Ojinika Olaghere, Mosun Belo-Olusoga, Ngozi Edozien, Lilian Olubi, and Amina Mohammed, esteemed female board members of NGX Group and its subsidiaries.

Industry heavyweights such as Frana Chukwuogor (SEC), Sarah Cruikshank Ockman (IFC), Hilda Baci (My Food by Hilda), Onome Komolafe (CSCS), Pai Gamde (Coronation Group), and Adesuwa Okunbo-Rhodes (Aruwa Capital Management) will provide insights on fostering financial inclusion and advancing women’s roles in business and investment.

Reflecting on NGX Group’s commitment, Temi Popoola, Group Managing Director/CEO, NGX Group and Chairman, CSCS, remarked:
“As Africa’s premier integrated financial market infrastructure group, we are reshaping policies and launching inclusive financial instruments to unlock women’s economic potential. Our IWD celebration underscores our unwavering commitment to ensuring gender equality is central to Nigeria’s economic transformation.”

The NGX Group IWD event will bring together policymakers, regulators, investors, SMEs, and civil society organizations, reinforcing the Group’s leadership in fostering equitable financial and economic opportunities. With women at the heart of corporate and economic evolution, this initiative marks another milestone in bridging gender gaps across Nigeria’s business ecosystem.
