In a groundbreaking move for sustainable development, Dangote Coal Mines Limited and host communities in Benue State have sealed a landmark Community Development Agreement (CDA), setting the stage for enhanced social and infrastructural progress.
Government officials hailed the pact as a “major milestone,” recognizing its potential to strengthen collaboration between the company and the communities. According to representatives from Dangote Coal and the host communities, the agreement will drive social programs that align with government initiatives in key areas such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and water supply.
Speaking on behalf of Dangote Coal Mines Limited, Nuhu Elujah described the CDA as a “breakthrough in our effort to touch lives.” He emphasized that the formalization of this agreement provides a structured roadmap for the company’s commitments to the Abache Community and beyond.
“It is a new era for peace and development. It is also a major milestone,” noted Ms. Bimbo Adams, a representative of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, underscoring the significance of the pact in fostering mutual growth.
At the state level, the agreement received commendation from Mrs. Adijetu Usman, who represented the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development during the signing ceremony.
Traditional and community leaders expressed appreciation for Dangote Coal’s ongoing efforts to uplift the region. Chief Emmanuel Ikom, Ward Head of Ugbokolo, lauded the company’s contributions, particularly in Okpokwu Local Government Area (LGA), and urged continued commitment to developmental projects.
In his remarks, Mr. Sunday Onoko Aluh, representing the Abache community, praised Dangote Coal for its dedication to community engagement and assured that the host communities would maintain a peaceful relationship with the company to foster accelerated progress.
Traditional rulers in attendance described the Community Development Agreement as a “win-win for all parties”, reaffirming their confidence in the collaboration as a vehicle for long-term transformation.
This milestone agreement not only solidifies the social responsibility efforts of Dangote Coal but also strengthens the foundation for sustainable development, ensuring that host communities directly benefit from the company’s operations while fostering economic growth and stability in Benue State.
