Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, Customs Area Controller of PTML Command
In a remarkable stride toward enhancing revenue generation and trade facilitation, the Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded over ₦150 billion in revenue collection within just four months. This milestone, achieved between November 11, 2024, and March 4, 2025, underscores the impact of the newly introduced B’Odogwu revenue platform, which has revolutionized the command’s revenue administration.
Reflecting on the journey, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, Customs Area Controller of PTML Command, attributed the success to the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. According to him, the decision to transition from NICIS, previously managed by Web Fontaine, to the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS)—codenamed B’Odogwu—marked a turning point in revenue collection.
“When the CGC launched this initiative on October 23, 2024, it was a bold move, and we took the challenge head-on,” Daniyan recalled. “Despite the initial hiccups at the pilot stage, B’Odogwu has proven to be a game-changer, driving efficiency, boosting government revenue, and giving traders a seamless experience in their business transactions.”
Beyond revenue collection, the B’Odogwu platform has empowered traders, providing greater transparency and ease of doing business within the command. “The CGC has been innovative, introducing projects like the Time Release Study and Advanced Ruling, all aimed at facilitating trade and maximizing business opportunities,” Daniyan remarked.
As the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) gains momentum, Daniyan expressed confidence in its nationwide adoption, emphasizing that other commands will soon embrace it. “The CGC recently visited Apapa to sensitize stakeholders on the upcoming rollout at Tin Can Island Port, and this underscores his commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s customs operations.”
With ₦150 billion already generated under B’Odogwu, the NCS continues to reshape revenue administration, proving that bold reforms and forward-thinking leadership can drive national economic growth.
