FirstBank, West Africa’s premier financial institution, has taken a monumental step toward the future with the groundbreaking of its state-of-the-art, eco-friendly headquarters in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos. The 40-story architectural marvel, set to be Nigeria’s tallest building, will redefine the skyline while reinforcing FirstBank’s leadership in sustainable banking.

At the ceremony, Olayinka Ijabiyi, Acting Group Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications, described the project as “an engineering and environmental masterpiece”, designed with advanced green technology to minimize carbon footprint and optimize energy efficiency.

Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of FirstBank Group, emphasized the bank’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, stating:

“This landmark development embodies our vision for a world-class financial institution that prioritizes excellence, innovation, and sustainability. Our new headquarters will not only enhance our operations but also contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth and position FirstBank as a global leader in sustainable banking.”

With over 130 years of history, FirstBank continues to push boundaries in financial services across Africa and beyond. The bank’s expansion into nine countries across three continents underscores its dedication to global excellence and customer-centric solutions.

Femi Otedola, Chairman of FirstHoldCo, hailed the project as a symbol of progress, adding:

The event was graced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, alongside top government officials, state governors, federal ministers, and industry leaders, highlighting the national significance of this investment in Nigeria’s financial infrastructure.
