The organizers of Cycling Lagos, one of Nigeria’s premier cycling competitions, have announced the 4th edition of the highly anticipated event, set to take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Themed “Sustainable Energy,” this year’s edition aims to amplify awareness around fitness, environmental sustainability, and clean energy solutions.

Ahead of the main event, the Mini Tour of Lagos will serve as a promotional ride on Thursday, May 15, 2025, bringing together cycling enthusiasts across different age groups and skill levels.

Speaking in Lagos, Bamidele Adeleye, Managing Director of BrandEscort Communications and Convener of Cycling Lagos, expressed excitement about the competition’s growth and impact over the years.

“Cycling Lagos has evolved into a movement that fosters fitness, unity, and environmental consciousness. This year, we are raising the bar to attract even more participants from across Nigeria, ensuring an unforgettable experience,” Adeleye stated.

The 2025 edition will feature multiple race categories, including the flagship Celebrity Race, Professional Race, Challenge Race, Amateur Race, Corporate Contest, and Children’s Race. Adeleye highlighted that this year’s Celebrity Race is expected to see increased participation, while the Children’s Race will run concurrently with the main event at Teslim Balogun Stadium on May 31.

Reinforcing the competition’s commitment to sustainability, Adeleye emphasized that the “Sustainable Energy” theme aligns with the Federal Government’s green energy policies and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7, which advocates for accessible, reliable, and clean energy.

“Sustainable energy ensures that our present energy needs are met without jeopardizing future generations. Cycling is not just a sport—it’s a lifestyle choice that promotes both physical health and a cleaner environment,” he explained.

Encouraging corporate organizations to participate in the Corporate Race category, Adeleye noted that Cycling Lagos is an opportunity for businesses to promote wellness and demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability.

The 2024 edition of Cycling Lagos received endorsements from the Lagos State Sports Commission and enjoyed sponsorships from major brands, including Samsung, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Nutrify, Cway Group, Nestlé Nigeria, McVities, Leadway Assurance, NNPC, and the Lagos State Cycling Association.

With a larger and more diverse participant pool expected this year, Cycling Lagos 2025 is poised to further cement its status as a landmark sporting and environmental advocacy event in Nigeria.
