On March 12, 2025, hope took flight as Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, hosted Jamaican Ambassador Lincoln Downer and his Consular, Andre Hibbert, in Abuja. The discussion signaled a bold step toward implementing a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA). Ambassador Downer spoke passionately about the mutual admiration between the two nations and the need to strengthen air transport ties.
His words carried a deeper sentiment—one of identity and belonging. “I have since discovered that Nigeria might be my ancestral home after all,” he shared, reflecting on his time in Nigeria. It was a statement that resonated beyond diplomacy; it was a call to reconnect, to heal historical separations, and to foster a new era of collaboration.
