Unity Bank Plc has reinforced its dedication to gender equality and women’s empowerment with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at fostering financial inclusion, leadership, and sustainable development.
As part of its commitment, the bank hosted a thought-provoking webinar themed “Unleashing Women’s Potential”, organized under the Unity Bank Women’s Network to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).
The virtual event featured an impressive lineup of influential female leaders, including renowned entrepreneur and media personality Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, alongside Oluwabusayo Adegoke, a certified life coach and strategy consultant. Together, they shared insights on navigating leadership roles, achieving financial independence, and breaking barriers in male-dominated industries.
Beyond the discussions, the event spotlighted women driving significant change in their communities. Among them were Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin, a tech advocate empowering young girls; Tejumoluwa Olaobaju, a leading voice in the fight against period poverty; and Chioma Ohakwe, a champion of inclusivity and skill acquisition programs for women.
Speaking on Unity Bank’s sustained commitment to gender inclusion, Mrs. Patricia Ahunanya, the Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer and Chair of the Unity Bank Women’s Network, emphasized:
“At Unity Bank, we recognize that women are critical to economic growth and societal transformation. Our commitment to financial inclusion and gender equity has positioned us at the forefront of driving impactful initiatives that empower women across various sectors. Through platforms like the ‘Unleashing Women’s Potential’ webinar and our community engagement programs, we are determined to create more opportunities for women to thrive.”
The Bank’s IWD 2025 initiatives align with its broader mission to support women in leadership, business, and entrepreneurship. Unity Bank continues to champion financial inclusion through specialized products like the Yanga Account, designed to empower women financially and foster their participation in economic systems.
As the global dialogue on gender equality gains momentum, Unity Bank calls on stakeholders across industries to accelerate actions toward a more inclusive and equitable society, ensuring that women everywhere have the tools and opportunities to succeed.
