Nigeria and Canada have officially signed a Bilateral Air Transport Agreement (Code Sharing Agreement), marking a major milestone in the aviation sector and bilateral relations between both nations.
According to reports, the agreement was formalized during a strategic meeting between Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb(UK), and the Canadian High Commissioner, Ambassador Pasquale Salvaggio.
Impact on Economy and Air Travelers
The agreement is designed to deliver significant benefits for both economies and air travelers:
- For the Economy: The partnership is expected to stimulate trade, investment, and tourism, creating economic opportunities for businesses in both countries. It will also enhance aviation sector growth, boost job creation, and facilitate smoother logistics for international business transactions.
- For Air Travelers: Passengers will enjoy seamless connectivity, improved flight options, and potentially lower airfares through airline code-sharing arrangements. This means easier access to multiple destinations, enhanced travel flexibility, and more efficient transit between Nigeria and Canada.
By deepening aviation cooperation, this agreement reinforces both nations’ commitment to global connectivity, fostering mutual economic growth and strengthening diplomatic ties.
