Zambia’s Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, has arrived in Nigeria for the highly anticipated 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) Conference, organized by Access Bank.
Set for Friday, March 28, 2025, the prestigious event will bring together prominent women leaders, policymakers, and advocates from across Africa and beyond to discuss gender equality, leadership, and economic inclusion.
At the invitation of Access Bank, Vice President Nalumango will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, delivering a goodwill message at the conference. Themed “Accelerate Action, Inspiring Generations!”, the event will spotlight actionable strategies to empower women, foster mentorship, and drive policy changes for gender equity.
In anticipation of her address, Nalumango emphasized the importance of translating conversations into concrete actions that uplift future generations of women.
“Empowering women goes beyond discussions—it requires deliberate action. We must create opportunities for young women to rise, lead, and transform their communities,” she stated.
The IWD Conference, a flagship initiative of Access Bank, will feature panel discussions, networking sessions, and workshops, with influential speakers from business, politics, and social development sectors. Discussions will focus on breaking barriers, fostering mentorship, and advancing policies that accelerate women’s leadership.
Expressing excitement over Nalumango’s participation, Access Bank described her as a symbol of resilience and transformative leadership.
“Vice President Nalumango’s presence will inspire women to take bold steps in their careers and communities. Her leadership exemplifies what is achievable when women are empowered to lead,” a spokesperson for the bank stated.
As the global movement for gender equity gains momentum, this year’s IWD Conference is expected to spark impactful conversations, policy recommendations, and initiatives that will empower women in Nigeria and across Africa.
