The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has proudly announced the successful issuance of the first Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) under its innovative B’Odogwu (Unified Customs Management System). This marks a key milestone in the NCS’s ongoing efforts to drive technological transformation and enhance trade processes.

This achievement comes on the heels of a strategic partnership meeting between the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso. Both institutions have expressed their unwavering commitment to improving trade efficiency, boosting revenue collection, and advancing financial integration within the nation’s trade ecosystem.

The B’Odogwu system, developed as a homegrown replacement for the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS II), is designed to modernize Customs operations. It aims to streamline trade documentation processes, improve efficiency, and foster stronger inter-agency collaboration. During its pilot phase at the Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Customs Area Command, stakeholders, including government agencies, were actively involved to ensure a smooth transition.

With the successful rollout of the first PAAR, the NCS is now poised for a nationwide implementation, aimed at optimizing customs procedures and enhancing trade facilitation. The Service remains focused on completing all necessary integrations with financial institutions, including Authorized Dealer Banks (ADBs), to support seamless foreign exchange transactions and trade-related payments.

Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, the NCS expresses appreciation to all stakeholders for their support and encourages the trading community to adopt the B’Odogwu platform, which promises more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven Customs processes.
