Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC has struck a major strategic partnership with Air Algeria, securing a comprehensive ground handling contract for the airline’s new Abuja-Algiers route, which operates twice weekly.
The deal marks a significant milestone in SAHCO’s continental expansion strategy and further affirms the company’s status as a premium ground handling services provider in Nigeria and beyond.
In a statement issued by Mrs. Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, the contract includes full ground handling operations such as ramp handling, passenger and baggage services, cargo operations, aircraft cleaning, and other key support functions.
“SAHCO’s modern equipment and highly trained personnel are well-positioned to deliver seamless turnarounds for Air Algeria at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja,” the statement noted, emphasizing the company’s dedication to world-class service delivery.
Commenting on the new alliance, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, Managing Director/CEO of SAHCO, expressed confidence in the partnership. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Air Algeria on this vital route. This contract underscores the trust they have in our expertise and operational standards. We remain fully committed to ensuring safe, timely, and top-quality services for every flight.”
SAHCO has consistently set the benchmark for ground handling excellence in Nigeria, serving leading international and regional carriers with a reputation built on reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The partnership with Air Algeria also supports SAHCO’s broader vision of deepening African aviation connectivity. According to the company, this agreement is poised to foster stronger economic and tourism relations between Nigeria and Algeria, opening new doors for bilateral cooperation.
Air Algeria, the national carrier of Algeria, is wholly owned by the Algerian government and operates an extensive network covering Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The airline’s decision to work with SAHCO reflects growing confidence in Nigerian aviation support services.
Ground handling, a critical aspect of airport operations, involves all activities from aircraft arrival to departure. SAHCO’s role ensures each flight is prepared efficiently, safely, and promptly, using the latest tools and technology.
With this new partnership, SAHCO once again reinforces its leadership in delivering end-to-end aviation support and contributing to the growth of intra-African air travel.
