In a landmark move to enhance financial inclusion and protect the livelihoods of Nigerian women, Leadway Assurance has joined forces with Wafira Ntaba Limited to unveil Plan B Insurance—a gender-specific insurance policy crafted to meet the diverse needs of women across all social strata.

Plan B Insurance is designed with simplicity and affordability in mind, offering packages from as low as ₦26,000 per quarter, making it accessible to a broad segment of women, especially those managing Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) or running households. The policy covers a wide range of risks and perils under a single, comprehensive product that includes auto insurance, healthcare, personal accident, fire, burglary, life insurance, and education—grouped into SME, Corporate, and Premier packages.

At the heart of this innovation is Ayona Aguele Trimnell, the visionary behind Plan B, who explained that the idea was born out of a decade-long mission to deliver women-centric insurance products tailored to the realities of Nigerian women.

“Plan B is an idea that has been in development for 10 years. As I explored insurance products for women globally, I realized there was a gap in Nigeria. This product is designed to close that gap. It’s not just about protection—it’s about empowering women to understand and benefit from insurance,” Trimnell said.

“For over fifteen years, I’ve personally enjoyed the benefits of insurance. I believe every Nigerian woman should have access to this financial safety net. Women need to know how insurance can remove burdens and secure their future.”

Plan B Insurance aims to penetrate underserved markets, especially among women-led businesses and low-income groups. By doing so, it tackles gender disparity in financial literacy and promotes economic empowerment.

Kike Fischer, Leadway’s Director of Sales, Retail, and Partnerships, emphasized the strategic intent behind the collaboration, noting:

“We’re confident Plan B will enable Nigerian women—regardless of social class—to protect their wealth, recover from financial setbacks, and lead with greater peace of mind. We have designed strategies to reach women at the grassroots, particularly through socioeconomic and retail networks.”

“This is more than insurance; it’s education. It’s awareness. It’s showing women that insurance is a tool for independence, stability, and purpose-driven living.”

With this partnership, Leadway Assurance cements its role as a champion of inclusive insurance solutions in Nigeria. By leveraging Wafira Ntaba’s grassroots insights and Ayona Aguele Trimnell’s vision, Plan B Insurance is set to reshape how women perceive, access, and use insurance in their personal and entrepreneurial journeys.
