In a rousing demonstration of patriotism and commitment to nation-building, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, has donated N50 million to the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project. The donation was announced during the grand fundraising and groundbreaking ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers Mess in Maitama, Abuja.

Serving as a co-launcher at the event, Dr. Onyema delivered a passionate speech highlighting the need for unity, youth empowerment, and collective investment in Nigeria’s future. He praised the DEPOWA College initiative as a landmark project that aims not only to build infrastructure but also to build the minds and futures of the children of military and police personnel.

“This is not just about bricks and mortar,” Onyema said through Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace. “It is about shaping the minds of young Nigerians who will become leaders, innovators, and agents of positive change. As we lay the first stone of the DEPOWA College, we are laying the foundation for a brighter Nigeria.”

Dr. Onyema commended DEPOWA’s unwavering dedication to uplifting the families of service members through education, skill development, and humanitarian programs. He noted that the college would be fully equipped with modern classrooms, vocational centers, science laboratories, and creative workshops to prepare students for real-world challenges in a rapidly evolving world.

In a heartfelt gesture, Dr. Onyema announced a N50 million donation on behalf of Air Peace and urged other well-meaning Nigerians to support the cause. “No matter how little, every contribution counts. This project is a legacy we are all building together,” he stressed. “We at Air Peace recognize the daily sacrifices of our armed forces, and this is our way of honoring their unwavering service to the nation.”

The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, expressed deep gratitude for the donation, describing it as both timely and profoundly meaningful. “Dr. Onyema has shown us that patriotism is best demonstrated through action. His support is a benchmark for what true corporate social responsibility looks like in Nigeria,” she remarked.

Air Peace’s commitment to national development goes beyond philanthropy. The airline has, for over a year, operated a boarding policy that prioritizes military personnel, individuals with special needs, and Business Class passengers—a move that underscores its appreciation for national service and inclusivity.

Dr. Onyema closed his remarks with a powerful message: “Let this project serve as a reminder that we all have a role to play in building a better Nigeria. Together, we can turn this dream into a lasting reality.”

With visionary support from leaders like Dr. Onyema and the collective resolve of the Nigerian people, the DEPOWA College is set to become a lasting monument to unity, education, and national pride.
