The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has called on traders and investors across Nigeria to seize the growing opportunities presented by the Authority’s streamlined export processes and other initiatives designed to foster global competitiveness.
Speaking at the 36th Enugu International Trade Fair during the celebration of the NPA Special Day, Dr. Dantsoho highlighted the critical role of trade in national development. The fair, themed “Developing Nigeria’s Industrial Sector / SMEs for Economic Advancement and Global Recognition,” provided the perfect backdrop for the NPA to reaffirm its commitment to simplifying trade logistics for exporters.
Dr. Dantsoho revealed that the NPA has established Export Processing Terminals (EPTs) aimed at transforming Nigeria’s export landscape. These EPTs, he explained, are structured as one-stop-shops for cargo consolidation, packaging, certification, documentation, and electronic shipment call-ups to ports. This streamlined model, he noted, removes previous bottlenecks and bureaucratic delays that had weakened Nigeria’s position in international markets.
“To ensure that local producers, especially in remote hinterlands, are integrated into global supply chains, we are linking EPTs with Domestic Export Warehouses (DEWs) in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and other partners,” Dr. Dantsoho said.
He emphasized that the Authority is aggressively aligning with the Federal Government’s ease of doing business agenda by eliminating human interference and embracing full automation through the Port Community System (PCS). This digital framework lays the foundation for the National Single Window (NSW)—a globally accepted platform that allows all trade stakeholders to interact seamlessly with a single click.
“As Nigeria’s leading trade facilitation platform, the NPA is committed to ensuring that Made-in-Nigeria goods flow efficiently from production centers to the global market,” he said, urging attendees to visit the NPA Pavilion and the agency’s real-time website—www.nigerianports.gov.ng—for more information and partnership opportunities.
Commending the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ECCIMA) for sustaining the culture of trade and enterprise, Dr. Dantsoho noted that Enugu’s strategic location as a gateway to the Southeast makes it an ideal launchpad for expanding Nigeria’s export footprint.
“Our doors remain open for partnerships beyond this trade fair,” he assured, “as we continue to push for a future where Nigerian businesses can compete and thrive on the world stage.”
