The Chairman of SIFAX Group and visionary leader behind SAHCO PLC, Barrister Dr. Taiwo Afolabi (CON), has been conferred with the prestigious Aviation Industry Investor’s Award at the 14th Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Awards and Ministerial Dinner — a ceremony widely regarded as the most prestigious celebration of excellence in Nigeria’s air transport sector.
In addition to this distinguished honour, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC was also recognized with the Aircraft Handling Service Achievement Award, solidifying its reputation as a leading ground handling company in Africa.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Fortune Idu, Founder and Convener of the NIGAV Awards, emphasized that the initiative is designed to foster collaboration within the aviation industry, promote healthy competition, and encourage the development of safer and more sustainable air services across Nigeria.
He praised Dr. Taiwo Afolabi for his transformative investments in aviation ground handling and tourism, describing him as a key player whose business acumen and commitment have significantly elevated service standards in the industry. “Dr. Afolabi’s impact stretches beyond aviation—his footprint is boldly stamped across marine, transportation, hospitality, and tourism sectors,” Mr. Idu added.
Commenting on SAHCO’s recognition, Mrs. Adetola Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO PLC, noted that the company’s success is driven by its state-of-the-art infrastructure, highly skilled workforce, and seamless operations at all commercially operated airports in Nigeria. “This award validates our commitment to excellence and innovation in aviation handling services,” she said.
