Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, has called for deeper collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of government, alongside members of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), to enhance Nigeria’s business environment and attract more investment.
Speaking in Abuja at the closing session of the PEBEC Retreat for heads of MDAs and Reform Champions, Shettima emphasized that strengthening inter-agency synergy is critical for achieving the administration’s reform agenda and sustaining investor confidence.
“This retreat was convened by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), which I am privileged to chair, not just to assess our reform strides but to reinforce something far more important—collaboration,” the Vice President said.
He continued: “The business of government is far too complex for isolated efforts. We cannot afford to operate in silos while the challenges we face are interconnected and require unified solutions.”
The Vice President stressed that a seamless working relationship among government agencies is essential to removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, improving service delivery, and making Nigeria a globally competitive business destination.
Among the key participants was Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), who commended PEBEC’s efforts in convening the retreat. He described the forum as a vital opportunity for Federal Government appointees to engage in peer learning and share reform strategies that can drive institutional efficiency and national development.
The retreat marked a renewed push by the Tinubu administration to accelerate ease-of-doing-business reforms and demonstrate strong leadership commitment to economic transformation through institutional synergy.
