In a move to deepen inter-agency collaboration and support Nigeria’s digital transformation goals, Galaxy Backbone Limited has initiated talks for a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its media arm, the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN).

During a courtesy visit to the NCS Headquarters in Abuja, a delegation from Galaxy Backbone, led by Mr. Ifeatu Anafulu, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence, was warmly received by Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada.

Mr. Anafulu emphasized that Galaxy Backbone, as the Federal Government’s ICT infrastructure provider, is well-positioned to complement Customs’ ongoing digital reforms, especially under the Trade Modernisation Project (TMP). “We are here to explore how our secure cloud storage, data protection, and cybersecurity services can support Customs’ transition to a fully digital, data-driven operation,” Anafulu said.

“Our role is to provide the digital backbone for seamless government service delivery, and Customs is one of the most strategic agencies in that vision.”

He noted the increasing importance of secure communication networks and efficient data management for Customs operations, especially in a global trade landscape driven by digital integration. Responding, Assistant Comptroller Maiwada welcomed the initiative and lauded Galaxy Backbone’s proactive approach to collaboration.

He stressed that the NCS is implementing a full-scale technological overhaul through the indigenous Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), known as B’Odogwu. “This reform is not just about automation but about building a Customs system tailored to Nigeria’s realities using Nigerian innovation,” Maiwada explained.

“Partnerships with trusted ICT providers like Galaxy Backbone will be vital to strengthening the resilience and scalability of our systems.” Maiwada highlighted that areas such as secure cloud storage, platform hosting, and high-speed network connectivity for NCBN are ripe for collaboration. The Galaxy Backbone team was later led on a tour of the NCBN studios by Chief Operating Officer Mr. Abubakar Ardo. The facilities, located within the Customs Headquarters, feature advanced editing, broadcast, and production suites.

Mr. Ardo described NCBN as a strategic communication channel designed to amplify Customs’ reform agenda, inform the public, and engage stakeholders through high-quality multimedia content. He expressed optimism that a future partnership with Galaxy Backbone would enhance the network’s technical infrastructure and broadcast reach.
