Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC has once again reinforced its reputation for excellence by clinching the coveted British Airways Safety and Punctuality Bronze Awards for its Lagos and Abuja stations in the first quarter of 2025. The awards, presented by British Airways, recognize SAHCO’s superior performance in safety compliance and operational punctuality across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific region.

According to Adetola Vanessa Uansohia (Mrs), Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, both stations met British Airways’ stringent Adjusted Departure Closure (aDC) punctuality target of 96% every month throughout Q1 2025 — a feat that highlights SAHCO’s unwavering commitment to service excellence.

“Safety and punctuality are pillars of the aviation industry,” noted Hellen O’Connor, British Airways’ Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. “We congratulate SAHCO in Lagos and Abuja for their outstanding contributions in achieving our Q1 punctuality goals.”

This recognition continues SAHCO’s streak of excellence, with the Lagos station alone earning Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum awards in 2024, while the Abuja station secured the Bronze award — affirming the company’s status as a dependable aviation ground handling partner.

Responding to the honour, SAHCO’s Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, expressed gratitude to British Airways for its continued recognition. “We are thrilled to receive this honour. SAHCO remains committed to delivering world-class ground handling services powered by advanced, eco-friendly technology. This award is a testament to our team’s diligence and professionalism across Nigeria.”

In a related achievement, SAHCO PLC and its Assistant General Manager, Safety and Quality Assurance, Mrs. Christy Oseghale, were honoured at the 2025 Nigeria Safety & Security (NSAS) Awards and Lecture, hosted by Safety & Security Watch (SSWatch) Magazine in commemoration of the ILO World Day for Safety and Health.

Mrs. Oseghale received the Special Safety Merit Award and was celebrated as a Safety Champion for her leadership in embedding a robust safety culture, contributing to national safety awareness, and setting industry benchmarks.

“I’m deeply honoured by this recognition,” Mrs. Oseghale stated. “At SAHCO, safety is non-negotiable. We are committed to protecting lives, assets, and operations through global best practices.”

Echoing her sentiments, Dr. Chinyere Amaechi, Managing Editor of SSWatch Magazine, remarked, “SAHCO’s consistent safety performance, international certifications, and gender-inclusive policies make it a standout in Nigeria’s aviation sector.”

With these prestigious recognitions, SAHCO PLC continues to lead as a dependable provider of safe, timely, and innovative ground handling solutions across Nigeria’s aviation industry.
