“APRA Secretary General Champions Values on Kenya Visit”

In a world where image often overshadows substance, the Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) reminds us that true influence is built not on branding alone, but on consistent behaviour rooted in strong values.

“Your brand is what you say about yourself. Your reputation is what others say about you,” he reflected in a recent post. “Reputation is shaped by your behaviour and rooted in your values. You define yourself through consistency in behaviour that shapes your values and incrementally adds to your reputation stamina. Then you are on the road to iconic status.”

This powerful reflection accompanied a significant professional moment: a recent working visit to the Kenyan Anti-Counterfeit Agency (ACA) as part of a broader tour across Nairobi and Mombasa. The visit was facilitated by the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), which sponsored the engagement.

The Secretary General was warmly received at ACA headquarters by the agency’s CEO, Dr. Robi Njoroge, MPRSK. Present at the moment were Arik Karani, who serves concurrently as President of both APRA and PRSK; Prof. Michèle Mekeme, Deputy President of APRA; and Patricia Ndede, Deputy President of PRSK. Their presence symbolised the growing synergy between public relations bodies across the continent and underscored the collaborative spirit driving the profession forward.

The visit was not only a gesture of cross-border cooperation but also a platform to exchange ideas on effective communications, brand protection, and stakeholder engagement in the public interest.

The report from the visit, carried with it a message that resonates well beyond the room: consistency, integrity, and values are the true cornerstones of a lasting professional legacy.
