Zenith Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to diaspora engagement and financial inclusion with the unveiling of its Diaspora Mortgage Offering during the official launch of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) Framework, spearheaded by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).
Speaking at the event, Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, described the new mortgage product as a strategic response to the yearnings of millions of Nigerians living abroad who desire to invest in real estate back home.
According to Dr. Umeoji, the Diaspora Mortgage Offering is designed to provide non-resident Nigerians with a seamless, transparent, and secure way to own homes in Nigeria without the traditional challenges of distance, verification, and trust.
“This offering is more than just access to property financing,” she said. “It represents a bridge between Nigerians in the diaspora and their homeland—enabling them to own a piece of the future they continue to support from afar.”
She commended the CBN and NIBSS for developing the NRBVN Framework, describing it as a “bold step” towards enabling credible digital identity verification for Nigerians abroad. The framework, she noted, will enhance trust in cross-border banking relationships and create pathways for safe and efficient financial transactions.
“At Zenith Bank, we have always believed in the power of innovation and excellence. With the NRBVN Framework now in place, we are proud to align with the national vision of extending financial services to every Nigerian, regardless of where they live,” Umeoji said.
The launch event drew participation from top executives in the banking and fintech sectors, as well as representatives from diaspora communities, who welcomed the initiative as a long-awaited reform.
Zenith Bank’s Diaspora Mortgage Offering is expected to stimulate housing investments and foster stronger economic ties between Nigeria and its global citizens.
