The Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Olatunbosun Alake
Lagos State is set to make history as the first Nigerian state to introduce official guidelines for the deployment and governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
The Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Olatunbosun Alake, disclosed this at the official launch of Dyna.Ai’s operations in Nigeria. He said the guidelines, which will be released in the coming weeks, aim to support the safe, ethical, and inclusive growth of AI solutions in the state.
“These are not policies,” Alake clarified. “They are guidelines to ensure we build products we’ll be proud to expose our children to, not ones we’ll need to shield them from.”
According to the Commissioner, the Lagos State government is committed to becoming a hub for responsible AI development and is leading efforts to establish a framework that encourages innovation while mitigating risks.
He stressed the importance of collective accountability in AI development, warning that unchecked growth could pose not only operational risks but also damage reputations and trust.
“Enduring value in technology will come from alignment with the public good,” Alake said. “Our goal is to lead in responsible innovation that benefits all.”
The event also featured a keynote address by Mr. Tokoni Peter Igoin, Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation. He spoke on the Federal Government’s broader vision for digital transformation, affirming support for responsible innovation in AI and financial technology.
“The government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to innovation that balances creativity with safeguards such as transparency, data protection, and digital security,” Igoin said.
The launch of Dyna.Ai’s Nigerian operations highlights growing global interest in Africa’s digital potential. Speaking at the event, Dyna.Ai’s Chairman and Co-President, Mr. Tomas Skoumal, said Nigeria is central to the company’s expansion strategy.
“Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa, and this is where the digital momentum is strongest,” Skoumal said. “Africa is no longer just the future—it is transforming now.”
Dyna.Ai unveiled a suite of advanced AI products at the launch, including its proprietary Agent Studio and industry-specific language models. The solutions are designed to power intelligent automation across sectors like customer service, marketing, human resources, and debt collection.
Skoumal added that Dyna.Ai is not just entering the market to sell products, but to build infrastructure, invest in talent, and drive long-term innovation from Nigeria to the rest of Africa.
“We’re here to create jobs, scale ideas, and build lasting technology frameworks that uplift local economies,” he said.
As Lagos prepares to roll out its pioneering AI guidelines, the state is positioning itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation, setting a benchmark for ethical and sustainable technology development across the continent.
